Baseball Recap: Newfane Panthers vs. Albion Purple Eagles

Newfane extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They lost 13-1 to the Albion Purple Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Purple Eagles since May 9, 2022.

As for Albion, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. They not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26, 2024 (when they won 14-2).

For Albion's part, Nathan Gibson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Gibson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kaiden Froman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elliott Trapiss, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
