Basketball Recap: Howells-Dodge Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Howells-Dodge proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 29) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-38 victory over the Pender Pendragons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Jaguars have posted since February 20, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Pender lost, don't look at Trevor Trimble. Despite the final result, he posted 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Trimble continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Howells-Dodge is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Pender, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-2.

Howells-Dodge will be taking part in a tournament against Clarkson/Leigh at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. Pender has already played their next matchup (against Madison), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
