Baseball Game Preview: Scott County Cardinals vs. Franklin County Flyers

The Scott County Cardinals will face off against the Franklin County Flyers at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Scott County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Scott County is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Melbourne Central Catholic just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 7-4 to the Hustlers.

Scott County got a good showing from Parker Dotson, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Scott County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Wands, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Franklin County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Frederick Douglass.

Scott County's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Franklin County, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Scott County was able to grind out a solid victory over Franklin County when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 8-3. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Flyers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
