Baseball Recap: Zanesville Comes Up Short

Zanesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 12-3 to the Utica Redskins. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 9-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Canon Mercer was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.

Zanesville's loss dropped their record down to 6-9-1. As for Utica, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-9.

Looking ahead, Zanesville will host Watkins Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Utica, they will face off against Northridge at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
