Baseball Recap: Western Boone's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Western Boone lost against Greencastle back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Stars fell just short of the Tiger Cubs by a score of 4-2. The loss put an end to the Stars' undefeated start to the season.

Gavin Hawkins and Layton Yancey stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hawkins went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double, while Yancey scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Beau Sawyer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Western Boone fell to 2-1. As for Greencastle, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Boone will host Western at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Stars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Greencastle, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Jasper at 11:00 a.m.
