Softball Recap: Central's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After a string of six wins, Central's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Deshler Tigers. The match marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Braydee Aday spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on eight hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Benson, who went 2-for-4 with one double.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Deshler, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 12-6.

Central will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Russellville at 4:30 p.m. on April 1. As for Deshler, they will take on Morton at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
