Community School of Davidson put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Pine Lake Prep 73-32 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-14.
Community School of Davidson can attribute much of their success to Tyler Baughan, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six steals, and Regan Downey, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Baughan is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Scarlett Soares, who scored nine points.
Mountain Island Charter suffered their biggest defeat since November 29, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Lincoln Charter 56-29. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mountain Island Charter in their matchups with Lincoln Charter: they've now lost five in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Cayla Bridgewater, who scored nine points along with two steals. Kayla Fudge was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Mountain Island Charter struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Community School of Davidson's win bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Mountain Island Charter, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's contest: Community School of Davidson have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.7% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Mountain Island Charter, though, as they've only made 33.7% of their threes per game this season. Given Community School of Davidson's sizeable advantage in that area, Mountain Island Charter will need to find a way to close that gap.
