The Upson-Lee Knights will head out on the road to take on the Trinity Christian Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trinity Christian took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Upson-Lee, who comes in off a win.
Upson-Lee will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points on October 3rd, then bounced right back against Fayette County on Friday. The Knights simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Tigers 42-10. Considering the Knights have won three matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Upson-Lee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jy Garmon, who rushed for 72 yards and three scores on only ten carries, and also picked up 74 receiving yards and one TD.all of that, receiving production came thanks to one massive catch Nicholas Wells was another key passer, throwing for 162 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes.
Upson-Lee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. De'Quavius Hamilton and John Neal each grabbed an interception.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a hard 38-21 fall against Troup County. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Tigers are ranked 33rd).
Upson-Lee will have to contain Ashton Clare as he made an impact in Trinity Christian's last game. He rushed for 55 yards and one TD, and also threw for 175 yards on 11 of 20 attempts.
Upson-Lee's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Trinity Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Upson-Lee has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 175 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Trinity Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 171.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Upson-Lee against Trinity Christian in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 40-6 victory. In that matchup, the Knights amassed a halftime lead of 20-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
