Bishop England is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. The Battling Bishops simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Woodland 52-6. The Battling Bishops might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 22 points or more this season.
Bishop England's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Tonon led the charge by rushing for 102 yards and one TD on only seven carries, while also picking up 32 receiving yards and one touchdown. Zachary Balog also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Bishop England proved: they limited Woodland to a paltry one yards per carry. The team can thank Chase Tonon for the heroic effort on defense: he. Bishop England didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.3.

Bishop England's defense didn't let Jeraze Salley, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. Woodland's QB won't forget Trevor Tonon anytime soon given he sacked him 2.5 times. Tonon is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made ten or more in each of the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, Hilton Head Island beat Bluffton 38-28 on Friday.
Bishop England better keep an eye on Derrick Raniszewski. He was instrumental in Hilton Head Island's win, throwing for 217 yards and one touchdown on only 13 passes, while also punching in a pair of scores on the ground. The dominant performance also gave Raniszewski a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Hilton Head Island's leading receiver Jeremiah Walters was Raniszewski's top target yet again, picking up 106 receiving yards and one TD.
Bishop England's record now sits at 5-0. As for Hilton Head Island, their record is now 5-1.
Bishop England strolled past Hilton Head Island in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 21-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Battling Bishops since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
