Basketball Recap: Grady Munson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Gateway Christian over Cliff

Gateway Christian and Cliff squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Gateway Christian had to settle for second. They took a 60-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cliff Cowboys/Cowgirls. The Warriors have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Gateway Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grady Munson, who shot 41% from the field en route to 19 points and five boards. Munson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Zack McCracken was another key player, going 6-for-15 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds.

Gateway Christian's loss dropped their record down to 21-9. As for Cliff, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season.

Gateway Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cliff, they will take on Logan at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Logan knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Cliff likes a good challenge.
