Basketball Recap: Pasadena Memorial Comes Up Short

Pasadena Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 67-13 defeat at the hands of the Pearland Oilers. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1157th, while the Oilers are ranked 64th).

Pearland was led to victory by Eliece Perry and A?Zyua Blair. Perry went 9 of 14 on her way to 18 points along with eight boards and five steals, while Blair went 8 for 19 en route to 16 points in addition to six steals and five assists. That's the most steals Perry has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Shiloh Grays, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 10 points and three steals.

Pasadena Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Pearland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pasadena Memorial will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Houston at 1:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Pearland also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Fort Bend Austin at 1:00 p.m. on December 31st.
