Basketball Game Preview: Nova Titans vs. Centennial Eagles

The Nova Titans will take on the Centennial Eagles at 4:40 p.m. on Saturday. Nova is coming into the game hot, having won their last ten games.

Nova proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 23) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 48-47 win over Oakland Catholic. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked eighth in Florida, while Oakland Catholic are ranked 50th in Pennsylvania) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jaelynn Housey produced another solid performance dropping a double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds. Her afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of J'Yan Tyrell, who posted eight points and six boards.

Nova smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Centennial didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Schoolhouse Prep on Friday, but they still walked away with a 56-51 victory.

Nova's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Centennial, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2.

Everything came up roses for Nova against Centennial when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 66-25 win. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
