Basketball Recap: Jaycee Elkins Key Part of a Team Effort in Vikings Win

West Vigo's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 43-34 victory over the Riverton Parke Panthers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Vikings also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Vigo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaycee Elkins, who posted seven points and seven assists. The dominant performance gave Elkins a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Bayli Vester, who scored 11 points.

Elkins wasn't the only one working in the assists department: West Vigo was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Riverton Parke lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Corinne Loomis, who earned seven points and seven boards. Loomis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Haylee Mathas was another key player, putting up 12 points.

West Vigo's record is now 6-14. As for Riverton Parke, their record now sits at 11-9.

West Vigo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 44-39 defeat against North Vermillion on the 30th. Riverton Parke has also already played their next game, a 47-11 loss against Fountain Central on the 30th.
