Corydon Central is a perfect 6-0 against South Central since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Rebels at 5:00 p.m. Corydon Central will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Corydon Central was able to grind out a solid win over Brownstown Central, taking the game 7-3.
Ava Gerdon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addyson Branham, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addison Alford, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Corydon Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for South Central's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Christian Academy on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Rebels' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Corydon Central's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for South Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
South Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Corydon Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. It's a different story for South Central, though, as they've only averaged .252. Will they be able to contain Corydon Central's hitters?
