Softball Recap: Beachwood Bison vs. Kirtland Hornets
Beachwood extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-8 in the process. They lost 11-0 to the Kirtland Hornets. The game marked the first time this year in which the Bison were not able to get on the board.
As for Kirtland, their win ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-9. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
For Kirtland's part, Gracie Svigel tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Kirtland got a massive performance out of Grace Mastrangelo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Mastrangelo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Kothera, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beachwood will challenge Hawken at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 11.9 runs per game this season.
