The Godwin Eagles will take on the Cosby Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Cosby will be up against a hot Godwin team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went the Eagles' way against J.R. Tucker on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-1 win. Considering the Eagles have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Godwin got a great performance from Delilah Smith as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, Smith posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2025.
On the hitting side, Avery Fankhauser was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Laney Poulos, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Godwin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Cosby got themselves on the board against James River Midlothian on Thursday, but James River Midlothian never followed suit. They blew past the Rapids 13-0. The matchup marked the Titans' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Abigail Conwell looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Cosby got a massive performance out of Camrynrae Shaver, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Garber, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Godwin's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Cosby, they now have a winning record of 4-3-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Godwin has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Cosby struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Godwin came out on top in a nail-biter against Cosby in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
