After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mount Greylock Regional, Pioneer Valley Regional was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They walked away with a 14-10 win over the Mohawk Trail Regional Warriors. The victory was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Layla Goulston and Jacobia Tyminski did most of the damage at the plate: Goulston scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Tyminski scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Chase, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5.
Pioneer Valley Regional picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Mohawk Trail Regional, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Coming up, Pioneer Valley Regional will venture away from home to take on Mahar Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mohawk Trail Regional, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Franklin County Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season.
