Softball Recap: Pace Patriots vs. Navarre Raiders

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pace had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Navarre Raiders a 10-0 shutout. Pace might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.

Jayden Heavener was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Heavener has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 21 consecutive pitching appearances. Heavener was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Shelby McKenzie was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Britten Kettler was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

Pace has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season. As for Navarre, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-15.

Pace will face off against Tate at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pace is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Navarre does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
