Softball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens's last matchup with Scottsboro could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Golden Eagles lost 13-4 to the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Golden Eagles have suffered since March 1st.

Jaicey Harty was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Lily Lowery was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Athens has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-10 record this season. As for Scottsboro, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7.

Looking ahead, Athens will square off against Muscle Shoals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Scottsboro, they will challenge Buckhorn at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bucks will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
