Baseball Recap: West Shamokin's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

The matchup between West Shamokin and Homer-Center on Thursday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Wolves took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Wolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Ben McConnell and Braden Talmadge stepped up to the plate in a big way. McConnell went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Talmadge went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Gunnar Shoop was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

West Shamokin's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5. As for Homer-Center, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, West Shamokin will take on River Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Homer-Center, they will square off against Kiski School at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
