Soccer Game Preview: Hough vs. Harding University

The Hough Huskies will head out to challenge the Harding University Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hough has 12 straight wins, Harding University has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Hough's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Mooresville 7-0. Give Hough's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Their offense was hitting Mooresville from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Olivia Miller led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Harding University was not quite West Charlotte's equal in the second half on Thursday. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 1-0.

Hough pushed their record up to 12-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 45 goals over those six games. As for Harding University, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Hough took their victory against Harding University in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hough since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
