Elk Lake has gone 9-1 against Blue Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Warriors will square off against the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Elk Lake is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
While Elk Lake's win against Wyoming Area wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Elk Lake had just enough and edged out Wyoming Area 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Elk Lake has posted since April 22, 2024.
Blue Ridge not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 14, 2024 (when they won 16-3). They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over Mountain View. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Hailey Carpenetti made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Carpenetti was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abby Piechocki, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hailey Champang, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Elk Lake's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Blue Ridge, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-7.
Everything went Elk Lake's way against Blue Ridge when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Elk Lake made off with a 15-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
