Softball Game Preview: Allen Eagles vs. Plano Wildcats

The Allen Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Plano Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Allen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Plano will be up against a hot Allen team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Allen put the hurt on Rock Hill with a sharp 12-1 victory on Saturday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Morgan Wright made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ady Fincanon, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Ashtyn Kotaska was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Allen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Plano can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out McKinney 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since April 9, 2024.

Allen's record now sits at 10-12-1. As for Plano, their record is now 5-13.

Allen might still be hurting after the 21-3 defeat they got from Plano when the teams last played back in February. Can Allen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
