Football Recap: Mountain View Starts off Right with Win over Maricopa

Mountain View had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-13 victory over the Maricopa Rams on Tuesday.

Mountain View didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Lilyanna Rios, Kirstin Valenzuela Yanez, and Danika Stoddard picked up one apiece.

Despite the loss, Maricopa saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zena Palmer picked up 88 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Palmer got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 78 yards.

Looking ahead, Mountain View will face off against Salpointe Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maricopa, they will challenge Youngker at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
