Football Game Preview: Geneva Knights vs. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes + How To Watch

The Geneva Knights will square off against the Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Geneva will be strutting in after a victory while Bishop McLaughlin Catholic will be coming in after a loss.

Geneva is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They took down Harvest Community 30-12. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Geneva to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Gilmartin, who rushed for 125 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and also threw for 78 yards and one touchdown. Those 125 rushing yards gave Gilmartin a new career-high. Marcus Jho was another key rusher, rushing for 132 yards and one score while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Geneva was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 321 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 62.4 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five contests they've averaged 151.

Geneva's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB ten times. The heavy lifting was done by Duke Carpenter and Braddock Carpenter, who racked up eight sacks between them. Thanks to that big game, Duke is now up to 13 sacks on the season. Geneva got some further help from Andrew Gilmartin: he picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles.

Meanwhile, Bishop McLaughlin Catholic played a tough game last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 27-7 to Santa Fe Catholic. The Hurricanes just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Bishop McLaughlin Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Geneva, their record is now 2-9.
