Basketball Recap: Perry Central's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

If Perry Central was feeling good fresh off their 53-22 takedown of Pike Central last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Perry Central Commodores fell 41-30 to the Orleans Bulldogs on Thursday. The Commodores' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Orleans got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mylie Knight out in front who posted seven points in addition to five assists and four steals. Knight is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Alston, who put up ten points along with seven boards and three steals.

Perry Central's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Orleans, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Perry Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-20 win against Shoals on the 21st. As for Orleans, they will take on Eastern Greene in a tournament on December 27th. Orleans is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season.
