Soccer Game Preview: Clairemont vs. Hoover

The Clairemont Chieftains will face off against the Hoover Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Clairemont's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Clairemont's offense. They came up short against Kearny on Thursday, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, the Chieftains can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 820th, while the Komets are ranked 378th).

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Hoover after they claimed the first score on Tuesday, but it was University City who ended up claiming the real prize. Hoover fell 4-2 to University City. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clairemont's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Hoover, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10-6.
