Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Archbishop Bergan). They came out on top against the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears by a score of 64-55 on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Archbishop Bergan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tessa Powers, who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points along with five boards and four steals. Those 22 points gave Powers a new career-high. Madison Schmidt was another key player, going 5 of 11 on her way to 17 points and three steals.

Archbishop Bergan was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rena Rasmussen posted 23 points and eight boards. Rasmussen is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Schutte, who put up eight points and nine rebounds.

Archbishop Bergan's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-5. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

When Archbishop Bergan and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Archbishop Bergan will try to stop Homer's eight-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will try to stop Elkhorn Valley's nine-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
