Soccer Game Preview: Lubbock-Cooper vs. Amarillo

The Lubbock-Cooper Pirates will square off against the Amarillo Sandies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Lubbock-Cooper is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Monterey on Tuesday. Lubbock-Cooper fell just short of Monterey by a score of 1-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Plainsmen: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Amarillo's offense. They lost 5-0 to Monterey on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Sandies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 489th, while the Plainsmen are ranked 45th).

Lubbock-Cooper's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3-1. As for Amarillo, they now have a losing record at 4-5-1.
