Baseball Game Preview: Northwest Lions vs. Lindbergh Flyers

The Northwest Lions will face off against the Lindbergh Flyers at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 21.

Northwest fell victim to St. Clair and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-0.

Northwest got a good showing from Dakota Werner, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Werner has become a key player for the Lions: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-17 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Lindbergh beat Parkway Central 9-4 on Monday.

Luke Steiner looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Cantareira, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jack Politte, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Lindbergh hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parkway Central struck out seven times.

Northwest's defeat dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Lindbergh, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-11-1 record this season.

Northwest came out on top in a nail-biter against Lindbergh in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Flyers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
