Baseball Game Preview: Lake Central Indians vs. Crown Point Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Lake Central will face off against Crown Point. The Indians are taking a road trip to take on the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Central will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Lake Central is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Crown Point, who was ranked sixth at the time (Lake Central was ranked seventh). The Indians walked away with a 7-3 win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lake Central got a great performance from Josh Flores as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Flores has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Drew Kosteba, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Dylan Hein was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Lake Central's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Crown Point, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-4.
