Volleyball Recap: Mount St. Charles Academy Falls Short Against Ranked Cushing Academy

Mount St. Charles Academy is ranked highly in their home state and on Wednesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Cushing Academy. The Mounties fell just short of the Penguins by a score of 3-2. The Mounties' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Mount St. Charles Academy wouldn't go down easily and took Cushing Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-17, 25-20, 23-25, 15-11.

Camryn Bedrossian paced Mount St. Charles Academy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Bedrossian got some help from Chloe Marcotte and her 20 assists. Sylvee Lemire controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Mount St. Charles Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Cushing Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mount St. Charles Academy will square off against rival Winchendon at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Cushing Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Beaver Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
