Basketball Recap: Mountain Valley's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mountain Valley had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged the Dirigo Cougars out 47-45. That's more bragging rights for the Falcons, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the defeat, Dirigo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Abigail Luczynski dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 boards. That was a full 57.8% of Dirigo's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Sophia Ni?o, who earned four points and eight rebounds.

Mountain Valley's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Dirigo, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5.

Mountain Valley will head out on the road to take on Hall-Dale at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Dirigo, they will face off against Sacopee Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dirigo is facing Sacopee Valley at the right time seeing as Sacopee Valley is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
