Basketball Recap: St. Francis' Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

If St. John's Northwestern Military Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played St. Francis, they should've done a better job of containing Josh Green. The St. Francis Mariners came out on top against the St. John's Northwestern Military Academy Lancers by a score of 71-62 on Wednesday thanks in part to Green, who went 12 for 21 on his way to 31 points and five assists. Those 31 points gave him a new career-high.

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wesley Chapman, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds. Chapman is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Mamadou N'Diaye was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds.

St. Francis' win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3. As for St. John's Northwestern Military Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Living Word Lutheran the next time they take the court. St. John's Northwestern Military Academy will host Living Word Lutheran at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, while St. Francis will host them at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
