Basketball Game Preview: Lely Trojans vs. Gulf Coast Sharks

Lely and Gulf Coast are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Lely Trojans will head out to challenge the Gulf Coast Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lely is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They fell 72-61 to Miami. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while the Stingarees are ranked 19th).

Gulf Coast's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Palmetto Ridge on Saturday. Gulf Coast put the hurt on Lakewood Ranch with a sharp 78-53 win.

Gulf Coast's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Lely, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Lely came up short against Gulf Coast when the teams last played on Tuesday, falling 56-48. Can Lely avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
