Recap: Haltom Buffalos vs. South Grand Prairie Warriors
The Haltom Buffalos were the 62-61 winner over the South Grand Prairie Warriors when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Haltom fell 56-49 to South Grand Prairie on Friday. While losing is never fun, Haltom can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while South Grand Prairie is ranked 19th).
Haltom's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kuol Atak, who scored 19 points along with five blocks and three steals. That was a full 38.8% of Haltom's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Baron Smith jr, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Haltom's defeat dropped their record down to 21-10. As for South Grand Prairie, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 28-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Haltom will take on Grand Prairie at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Haltom is coming into the contest with ten straight losses at home, meaning Grand Prairie will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. South Grand Prairie will take on Lamar at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Grand Prairie is coming into the game with ten straight victories at home, so Lamar is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
