Flag Football Recap: Mikalah Ortega Leads Monrovia's Defense on Saturday

The Monrovia Wildcats came up short against the Glendora Tartans on Saturday and fell 19-6. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 464th, while the Tartans are ranked 193rd).

Even if they lost, Monrovia's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Mikalah Ortega.

Monrovia has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Glendora, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5.

Monrovia didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-33 loss against La Canada on the 22nd. As for Glendora, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 19-14 defeat against Ayala on the 22nd.
