Softball Recap: Fayette Academy's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Fayette Academy waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Haywood Tomcats as they made off with a 12-6 win. Considering the Vikings have won four games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Leah Culver was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Culver was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Fly, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kasey Kimery, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5.

Fayette Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Fayette Academy's record is now 5-3. As for Haywood, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Fayette Academy will face off against Trinity Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Haywood, they will challenge Lake County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Haywood's pitchers better be ready for this one: Lake County has averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
