Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Lubbock-Cooper's 18th in Last 19 Outings

Lubbock-Cooper had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They beat the Memorial Mavericks on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 21 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lubbock-Cooper got a great performance from Brooklyn Ray as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Ray has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Addison Luna was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was McKanna Garcia, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Lubbock-Cooper kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.

Lubbock-Cooper is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Memorial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-21.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lubbock-Cooper beat the Mavericks by a score of 11-1 later that day.
