Recap: Bayard Tigers vs. South Platte Blue Knights
The Bayard Tigers suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 67-41 loss at the hands of South Platte. Bayard was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Platte apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Connor Posey, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Leonard, who scored 11 points.
Dashle Richards was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds and six steals for South Platte. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Richards has scored all season. Quinten Koenen was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and three steals.
Bayard has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for South Platte, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Bayard will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Minatare. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Minatare is ranked 258th, while Bayard is ranked 253rd). As for South Platte, they will square off against Potter-Dix at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
