Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Graham-Kapowsin's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Graham-Kapowsin never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against the Bethel Bison as they made off with an 18-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Brooklyn Pettit was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Izzy Vargas was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Makayla Young was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Graham-Kapowsin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Bethel, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Graham-Kapowsin will head out to take on Sumner at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Spartans have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Bethel, they will head out on the road to square off against Bonney Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
