Softball Recap: West Valley Wins Going Away Against Anderson

West Valley won the last time they faced Anderson and things went their way on Saturday too. West Valley blew past Anderson 21-2. Considering the Eagles have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddy Pemberton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, West Valley got a massive performance out of Addy Taylor, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Taylor a new career-high in RBI (three). Coral Tozer was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

West Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

West Valley pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Anderson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Valley will head out to challenge University Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. University Prep will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something West Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Anderson, they will take on Durham at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
