Basketball Recap: Boonville Takes a Loss

On Saturday, the Boonville Pirates might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Quincy Blue Devils an easy 55-29 win. The matchup marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Quincy found their leader in sophomore Jada Brown, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Brown's afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Khloe Nicholson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Boonville and nudges their season record down to 6-4. As for Quincy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boonville will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lafayette County at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Quincy will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Springfield Southeast at 12:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Quincy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season.
