Baseball Recap: Ashdown Drops Season-High Score on Nashville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ashdown). They blew past the Nashville Scrappers 13-2 on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Jarred Baker spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up seven Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits.

At the plate, Walt Jones was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gunnar Altenbaumer, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The victory snapped Ashdown's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-4 record. As for Nashville, they dropped their record down to 6-3 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashdown will venture away from home to square off against Malvern at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nashville, they will head out on the road to take on Camden Fairview at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nashville has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
