Football Game Preview: Kirkwood Cobras vs. Northwest Vikings + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the Kirkwood Cobras and the Northwest Vikings will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kirkwood has three straight victories, Northwest has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Two weeks ago, Kirkwood got the win against Creek Wood by a conclusive 35-14. Considering the Cobras have won six games by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kirkwood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josiah Claybrooks led the charge by rushing for 154 yards and three scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also picking up 34 receiving yards. Claybrooks' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 100 rushing yards. Miles Reding was another key signal caller, throwing for 213 yards and a pair of TDs on only 18 passes.

Meanwhile, Northwest had to suffer through a 52-7 loss at the hands of Henry County. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Patriots are ranked 59th).

Northwest's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Kirkwood, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Everything came up roses for Kirkwood against Northwest in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as the squad secured a 30-0 victory. Do the Cobras have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
