Softball Recap: Cookeville Takes a Loss

Cookeville easily dispatched William Blount last Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Cavaliers fell just short of the Rhea County Golden Eagles by a score of 11-9 on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 back in March.

Kadie Presley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Gabbi Romero also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Cookeville has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Rhea County, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9.

Cookeville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-6 loss against Lebanon on the 15th. As for Rhea County, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Cleveland on the 15th.
