Basketball Recap: Liberty Common Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when Liberty Common faced off against SkyView Academy on Saturday. The Liberty Common Eagles took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the SkyView Academy Hawks.

When it comes to explaining why Liberty Common lost, don't look at Pierce Richardson. Despite the final result, he went 12-for-26 on his way to 25 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The game was Richardson's tenth in a row with at least 15 points. Grayson Clay was another key player, going 7-for-15 to rack up 16 points.

SkyView Academy had a senior duo take command as Reagan Lewis almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine boards and Isaac Dove dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Lewis a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Markus Lloyd, who posted nine points.

Liberty Common's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for SkyView Academy, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Liberty Common wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 44-40 win against Platte Valley on the 18th. As for SkyView Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 82-21 victory against Clear Creek on the 18th.
