Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Doniphan's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Kennett, Doniphan was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Alton Comets a 10-0 shutout. The Dons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.

MacKay Jackson was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dalila Watson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Audrey Watson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Doniphan is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Alton, they dropped their record down to 3-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Doniphan will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Comets: the pair will be back at it again later today.
