The Fort Bend Clements Rangers will head out on the road to take on the Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Bend Clements will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Tuesday, Fort Bend Clements really took it to the Broncos for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-36 win at home. Given Fort Bend Clements' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Broncos are ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fort Bend Clements' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nedum Chiadika led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chiadika has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Joshua Clark, who scored 16 points along with five blocks.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Hightower was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 55-51 to the Knights.
Fort Bend Clements pushed their record up to 26-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Fort Bend Hightower, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-9.
Fort Bend Clements strolled past the Hurricanes when the teams last played back in January by a score of 60-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fort Bend Clements since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
