Volleyball Recap: Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Wolves vs. Buckingham Charter Knights
Western Sierra Collegiate Academy was the 3-1 winner over Buckingham Charter when they last played one another last Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Wolves fell just short of the Knights by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Western Sierra Collegiate Academy wouldn't go down easily and took Buckingham Charter into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21, 18-25, 18-25, 15-11.
Avery Plummer paced Western Sierra Collegiate Academy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Plummer got some help from Adelyne Olvera and her 15 assists. Ielyzaveta Demchuchena controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Buckingham Charter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Addelyn Widmer out in front who had ten kills, eight blocks, and four aces. Widmer has been hot for a while, having posted seven or more kills the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Justice Wright, who had ten kills, five blocks, and four aces.
Western Sierra Collegiate Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Buckingham Charter, their record is now 13-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Sierra Collegiate Academy will host Sacramento Adventist at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Buckingham Charter, they will challenge Faith Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
